Digital Video Broadcast – Return Channel via Satellite (DVB-RCS)
Our DataNet content-management solution provides critical voice, data and video for warfighters. NetOps Portal enhancements support modular system growth, industry-compliant integration, and simplified updates.
Background
DVB-RCS is an open standard for two-way, high-speed communication. Developed and managed by the Defense Information Systems Agency, DVB-RCS provides communications links for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) operations, as well as Internet browsing, data dissemination (user push/pull), video broadcasting and secure communications for warfighters. DVB-RCS is the future of the Department of Defense (DoD) Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) efforts.
TeraLogics’ Response
TeraLogics provided software and systems engineering expertise in support of the initial system deployment. We continue to improve the capability through core system enhancements, user interface upgrades and performance optimizations. Our solutions solve immediate challenges, while positioning for future capabilities. TeraLogics supports the DVB-RCS effort in partnership with the contract prime, Booz Allen Hamilton.

Initial Requirement: DataNet Content Management System
The TeraLogics team designed, developed and delivered an end-to-end solution for data file ingest and dissemination. The Web-based architecture simplifies user access and minimizes the hardware footprint, while maintaining strict DoD security requirements. Two-Way Interactive Satellite Terminal (TWIST) capabilities support remote system configuration and troubleshooting.
Ongoing Requirement: NetOps Portal Integration
As the system grew, TeraLogics enhanced the application infrastructure and system-resources management and monitoring – seamlessly integrating new capabilities into a custom monitoring portal. Creating Web services around commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products allows the use of inexpensive, readily available capabilities. The modular architecture supports an end-to-end, network-operations solution. In addition, TeraLogics plays a critical role with Information Assurance, performing systems “lockdown” of all new DVB-RCS suites prior to in-theater deployment.
